Indian vehicle manufacturer Tata has unveiled the new car for the masses. The car costs 100,000 rupees or approx $US2,600. The price will make the car affordable to millions of ordinary Indians previously relying on motorbikes for family transport. Tata’s Chairman Ratan Tata explains what motivated him to create the new car:
That’s what drove me – a man on a two-wheeler with a child standing in front, his wife sitting behind, add to that the wet roads – a family in potential danger.
Surely, the new car and its potential to improve the lives of millions of ordinary Indians is great news. Instead the car was slammed by the Western eco-Luddite groups who described it as ticking time bomb threatening the planet. To such miserablist morons, the real dangers faced by the millions of Indian families on the roads are secondary to averting the imaginary planetary disaster resulting from the car’s emissions.
